Andrea Nichols

Literary Agent

Andrea fell in love with reading at what she calls the “YA golden era.” She picked up Shadowhunters and there was no going back. Some readers feel lonely in their hobby but she has the pleasure of having best friends who also love to read and take on her never-ending recommendations, and who can attest that she’s pretty convincing when she wants to. When she’s passionate about something, it’s contagious.

Prior to agenting, she worked as an editor at an independent Spanish publisher, but it sadly closed its doors. After that, she wanted to pivot to agenting and she approached agent Rachel Estep at D4EO for the opportunity of an internship, looking to get her foot in the door.

Andrea has a BA in Performing Arts, providing her with good communication skills and knowledge in storytelling.

Andrea Nichols, Literary Agent
  • Fantasy/Romantasy that makes me feel like I’m actually being transported to another world, either by intricate world building or a whimsical vibe. Political intrigue plotlines. Better if it’s high concept.

  • Romances that make me swoon, makes me giggle and kick my feet. I want to believe that the characters are really in love and root for them. And side plots that make the characters feel layered and real.

  • Mysteries that are light, feel good and entertaining. I love it when I’m able to follow the characters and put the pieces together with them. (Ex: Jennifer Lynn Barnes).

  • Dark Academia / Gothic atmospheres that feel eerie and spooky without it being straight up scary. I like it especially when it blends with other genres such as fantasy or romance. (Ex: Keri Lake and Rachel Gillig).

  • Sci-fi that blends with other genres like fantasy or dystopian. I like urban scenes or superheroes. (Ex: Renegades by Marissa Meyer). I will be very picky.

  • Upmarket Women’s Fiction that feel like character studies where we learn about a fictional person and they end up feeling so real it’s almost unbelievable they don’t exist (ex: Taylor Jenkins Reid). Or stories with multiple POVs and storylines that meet in the middle and are impossible to put down (ex: Elin Hilderbrand).

Works Andrea would like to represent:

  • Open to YA, New Adult and Adult for: Romantasy, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Dark Academia, Mystery, Gothic.

  • Open just for Adult and New Adult: Romance (Contemporary, Rom-Com, Dark Romance) and Upmarket Fiction.
